Meyer, Stephanie. Eclipse [Vampire Saga #3] Little, Brown, 2007 [0-316-16020-2 // 978-0-316-16020-9]

In book three of Myers saga, Bella falls deeper in love with Edward, the vampire while trying to maintain her “longtime friendship” with Jacob, a werewolf. Because of Bella’s attraction to these two, the local, age-old treaty between the vampires and werewolves may be in jeopardy. Meanwhile, in nearby Seattle, the city is being ravaged by a mysterious serial killer (or killers.) Bella, Jacob, and Edward know it is vampire related. The situation has to be handled. Can this new group of young vampires be killed? Who “started” this new group? This 629 page book is along read. It is a love story with the vampire and werewolf things thrown in… some gore. Edward and Bella and struggle over whether they should sleep together before they are married. There are some very passionate kissing scenes. While this is a long read, your Middle and High School students who are into this series will eat it up. The anticipated big battle was actually very short, page-wise and this may disappoint some readers. The book has a complete and satisfying ending but it leaves open the possibility for more. I think I have heard of a movie in the future.. which would make sense since this series is soooo popular.
